The Great Commission Fund

Financially, the backbone of SAMS Canada is our Great Commission Fund (GCF).

This fund serves two key functions:

1. It is this fund that sustains our vital role as an administrative and communications lifeline for our Mission Partners as they serve abroad;
   
2. The GCF underwrites the work we do do here at home in promoting greater mission awareness amongst Canadian Anglicans.

Just as the apostles designated people of faith to carry out administrative and serving duties so that they could focus on the preaching of the Word, today's Mission Partners have the same needs for support at home to prepare, support, advise and administer on their behalf, so they can focus on their ministry in the field, secure in the knowldge that their support base and needs at home are properly looked after.

As much as possible, this work is done on a voluntary basis at SAMS Canada. To ensure continuity and the requisite professional, fiscal and legal support however, much of it is done by our staff. It is through the 'Great Commission Fund' that these needs . . . office, staff, mailing, newsletter, accounting, taxes, pension etc, are overseen and managed on their behalf.

Although the work that this 'Silent Partner' does is behind the scenes, it is essential - not only for the Mission Partner, but for you yourself. It ensures that you remain informed, and that the ultimate use of your support complies fully with all legal, tax, and accountability requirements.

A very small amount (10%) from each donation you give to SAMS in support of a Mission Partner goes into this fund. That assessment however provides only a small portion of the funding required to support this critical need. The lions' share of the support for the GCF comes from the direct donations of those who understand the importance of this ministry, and who sustain it through specific gifts, over and above the direct support of our Mission Partners.

Please pray always for our Mission Partners and the people they are reaching out to. We also ask your prayers and financial support for the Great Commission Fund, that SAMS Canada will continue to have the strength and resources to serve in obedience to Christ's command.
