New Faces on SAMS Canada Council of Reference

SAMS Canada is privileged to enjoy the counsel and support of a solid Council of Reference, comprising four sitting Canadian Bishops from across the country.

Bishop Linda Nicholls of the Diocese of Toronto serves as Episcopal Visitor. Bishop Nicholls is area bishop for the episcopal area of Trent-Durham and represents the ecclesiastical province of Ontario.

The ecclesiastical province of Canada is represented by the Right Reverend Cyrus Pitman, Bishop of the Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador.

Bishop Derek Hoskin of Calgary represents the ecclesiastical province of Rupert's Land.

The ecclesiastical province of British Columbia and Yukon is represented by Bishop Larry Robertson of the Diocese of Yukon.

The SAMS Board will meet with this Council of Reference when they meet in Montreal in October 2010 for the House of Bishops meeting.

The role of the Council of Reference is to serve as advocates for SAMS among the bishops, in their provinces, and in the wider church generally. The SAMS Board can also turn to the Council or one of its members should it need particular help or guidance at any time.
